The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will take place from February 6 to 22, followed by the Paralympics from March 6 to 15.For the first time, two Italian cities — Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo — will co-host the Games, alongside other Alpine locations such as Bormio, Livigno, Anterselva, and Val di Fiemme, covering a vast area between mountains and metropolitan centers.
More than 3,500 athletes from 93 countries will compete for 195 medals across 16 Olympic and 6 Paralympic disciplines. One of the most anticipated innovations is the Olympic debut of ski mountaineering.
The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in prestigious venues: the Olympic opening at Milan’s San Siro Stadium, and the Paralympic opening at the Verona Arena. The Olympic Games will also close at the Verona Arena, while the Paralympics will conclude at the Ice Stadium in Cortina.
Each venue is dedicated to specific sports: Milan will host ice hockey, figure skating, short track, and speed skating; Cortina will feature bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, curling, and women’s alpine skiing; Bormio will host men’s alpine skiing and ski mountaineering; Livigno will welcome freestyle and snowboard; Anterselva will host biathlon; and Val di Fiemme will stage cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and Nordic combined.
Among the infrastructure projects, the new Sliding Centre in Cortina stands out, designed for ice track sports. In Milan, facilities like the Santa Giulia Arena and Milano Ice Park are under construction to host hockey and skating events.
The official mascots of the event are Tina and Milo, two ermines chosen through a school contest. With Tina in white and Milo in brown, they represent the dual spirit of the Games — Olympic and Paralympic — and embody inclusion, friendship, and diversity.
Tickets are already on sale through the official website, where visitors can register and book their access to the events.
Milano Cortina 2026 aims to blend innovation, tradition, and stunning landscapes, offering a unique edition of the Games that celebrates Italian beauty and excellence on the global stage.
